If you are a mature, reliable, hard-working individual with attention to detail we would like to talk with you. Currently we need a technician to produce nutrient media for plant tissue culture and to maintain plants in tissue culture (ex. trim plants and transfer into fresh growing media). We are looking for someone who works hard and with a sense of urgency, and finds satisfaction in the process of completing a job correctly each time. Following training, most of this work will be completed on site independently with remote guidance/support.

This is a great opportunity to learn about the art and science of plant tissue culture and how modern plant nurseries produce clean plants. Additionally, we allow for some flexible determination of your own working hours (within reason). Previous experience in a lab or light manufacturing is a plus, but not required.

Background: 3R Biotech is a biotechnology company supplying plant tissue culture products and services to cultivators and late-stage nurseries across the United States and Internationally. 3R products provide direct value to farmers and greenhouse operators as premium plants produced in tissue culture are vigorous, less susceptible to pests and pathogens, and higher yielding. Applicant must be comfortable working with hemp within a hemp-licensed facility.

LOCATION: This position is currently located in Ferndale WA. Ideal for residents of Bellingham, Ferndale, Blaine, Lynden, Everson, and Sumas.

Job Description and Responsibilities:

• Produce nutrient plant media for use within lab and for external customers.
• Empty and wash used tissue culture vessels and glassware.
• Maintain a small stock of internal hemp plants in tissue culture, which includes trimming and transferring plants from old media into fresh growth media.
• Support the pathogen testing division when needed.
• Perform inventory on plants and equipment/chemicals as requested.
• Maintain a clean and tidy lab and workspace.
• Enthusiastically help teammates with any job that is required.

This Job is Ideal for Someone Who is:

• Dependable -- more reliable than spontaneous.
• A hard worker, moving quickly from task to task with a sense of urgency (experience in a commercial kitchen is an asset).
• Detail-oriented and does not mind performing repetitive tasks.
• Enjoys working independently, and listening to podcasts/music.
• Has some experience working in light manufacturing, with plants in a nursery setting, or in labs in general, although not required (will train).

This job is:

• Open to applicants who do not have a high school diploma/GED or college diploma.
• A good fit for applicants with gaps in their resume, or who have been out of the workforce for the past 6 months or more.
• A good job for someone returning to the workforce with limited experience and education.
