Lab Assistant

PNW Veg Co dba NORPAC is seeking applications for a full-time, seasonal Lab Assistant to work with our quality lab. The Lab Assistant conducts analysis on a wide range of frozen fruits, vegetables, and specialty foods to ensure quality of the product.

This role is seasonal. It will start in late May 2026 and extend through approximately October 2026.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare media for the microbiological analysis on frozen product samples.
• Sort and categorize incoming laboratory samples on a daily basis.
• Monitor laboratory supplies and convey ordering needs.
• Maintain laboratory and equipment in a clean and sterile manner.
• Maintain laboratory records.
• Complete additional duties as assigned by quality and plant leadership.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Basic math skills.
• Effective verbal and written English communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize, multi task, and work independently with minimum direction.
• Good organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Satisfactory results from a pre-employment background check and drug screen.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Technical knowledge of laboratory programs, procedures, and instrumentation.
• Interest in biology/microbiology.
• Prior experience working in a food processing facility

Physical Demands: Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Frequently is required to talk or hear. Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and smell. Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Mental Demands: Work requires strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.

Work Schedule: May require evening, weekend, overtime, and some holiday work.

Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
