Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Laboratory Assistant at our facility you will be an integral part of our Laboratory team. You will be more than a phlebotomist! We are a highly functioning team that supports many different departments and has a passion for providing the best patient care through compassionate, professional interactions and reliable testing. In this role:

• You will provide courteous and caring customer service and support to patients, family members, physicians, and their office staff.
• You will obtain specimens through venipuncture and capillary collection techniques, and process those and other specimens so as to be ready for testing within the laboratory.
• You will process reference lab specimens for shipment, ensuring quality and acceptable turn-around-times.
• You will verify documentation on incoming orders and maintain necessary logs.
• You will transcribe written orders for outpatient specimens and ensuring test results are sent to the ordering physician.
• You will train new employees and others in specimen receiving duties and responsibilities.

Qualifications:

• Certification in phlebotomy highly preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Good computer skills; filing/clerical skills; self-discipline in organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
• Prior specimen receiving experience preferred.
• One year phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Course in medical terminology preferred.
• Excellent communication skills.
