Job Summary and Qualifications

The Phlebotomist/Laboratory Assistant is responsible for the skillful collection of blood samples from inpatients and outpatients ranging in age from neonatal through geriatric. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient of all ages that are served in his/her department. Is expected to demonstrate computer skills necessary for receiving and processing patient specimens. May also perform some routine semi-technical laboratory procedures under the supervision of a medical technician or technologist. Provides the initial encounter for patients and staff to the laboratory, and must consistently demonstrate good customer communication skills. Must adhere to policy and established procedures in the performance of assigned duties. Management retains the discretion to add to or change the duties of the position at any time.

What qualifications you will need:

• High School Graduate or GED
• Certified by the State of Nevada as an Assistant or provide evidence of eligibility to apply
• Work experience in a clinical laboratory/phlebotomy, with experience in a hospital setting preferred. Will consider recent graduate of an accredited Phlebotomy program.
• Excellent communication skills required Ability to accurately handle data to facilitate positive patient identification. Basic data entry skills, a plus. Ability to organize workload Must demonstrate good customer service skills.
