Role Purpose:

The position is to support bulk production through the effective coordination of all Laboratory operations and processes and to ensure efficient servicing of all LRM request types, ensuring high-quality matches and recipes are produced and submitted within agreed service lead times and to Coats technical standards, to meet Laboratory KPIs. Ensuring smooth operation and coordination of all lab activities relating to LRM , colour matching, sample preparation and simplex operations on the shift and during shift handover. Also, ensuring the optimal allocation of resources during the shift. Ensuring the correct use of CF2000E to conduct colour measurement and pass/ fail of all laboratory batches to efficiently service all LRM requests. This position is also to support its own area to be sourced by fully trained laboratory operators.


Key Responsibilities :

  • Ensure optimal resourcing and utilisation of all LRM functionality in order to effectively manage the laboratory workload and to ensure that all samples are produced within shade tolerance and within service lead times.
  • Monitor, analyse, and report on lab to bulk reproducibility and work with the bulk dye house team to ensure that the highest levels of lab to bulk reproducibility are maintained...
  • In conjunction with the Quality Department, receive and investigate all customer shade complaints and recommend/take corrective action as appropriate.
  • Manage sales team expectations through timely and effective liaison and feedback relating to queries on DTM and Sample Order requests.
  • Monitor and report daily and monthly on matching performance relating to Colour Atlas.
  • Communicate effectively on colour development issues with other Coats units, as necessary.
  • Ensure all activities relating to LRM, colour matching, sample preparation and machinery operations are adequately resourced during the shift so that service lead time performance is optimised.
  • Ensure that all LRM requests are processed sufficiently and in accordance with relevant SOPs.
  • Ensure that high-quality recipes are promoted to bulk for all BRI and BRD requests.
  • Work with the bulk Feedback team to ensure that the highest levels of lab to bulk reproducibility are maintained.
  • Ensure that all new recipes are developed using approved Coats global dyestuff triangulations and that all shade card shades, Colour Atlas shades and GKA shades use the correct global specific triangulation when using LRM.
  • Drive continual improvement in dyeing attempts per request for DTM, Sample Orders, BRI and BRD laboratory requests
  • Meet and exceed laboratory service lead-time targets and to ensure that exceptions are properly and proactively communicated to relevant stakeholders.
  • Perform calibrations of spectrophotometers (including UV calibration) as required and ensure that Maestro correlation is properly enabled on spectrophotometers.
  • Ensure that all LRM lab batches are conditioned and measured into the CF2000E system in accordance with Coats' global colour measurement SOP.
  • Interpret colour difference data from CF2000E to determine if the batch has passed or failed, and to decide whether redye is required.
  • Manage the input of newly created local special STDs into the CF2000E system.
  • As required, provide high-quality redye recipes, ensuring focus on minimisation of attempts per shade.
  • Comply fully with all relevant laboratory SOPs.
  • Efficient logging and management of all laboratory workload using CF2000E Lab Request Manager Software in line with global SOPs.
  • Submit high-quality thread matches to customers for DTM and sample order requests, ensuring that the strike rate of shade card and atlas shades is maximised.
  • Through proper recipe pre-screening, ensure that all laboratory batches released for dyeing are done so with the highest quality recipe possible, resulting in the best possible chance of a high colour quality result.
  • Adhere fully to the Laboratory Health and Safety SOP at all times.
  • Achieve and sustain a high level of safety awareness and compliance among all laboratory staff by constantly monitoring compliance with Lab Health and Safety SOPs and machinery operation SOPs, and taking steps to eliminate all risk factors and potential hazards.
  • Continually promote the principles of 5S housekeeping.
  • Efficient logging and management of all laboratory samples of customers through the Coats Colour Express system, ensuring.
  • Responsible to communicate to the global team to add and modify all the master data for the CCE system.
  • Manage the workload in the lab after increasing the capacity to double.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant professional experience.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and verbal.
  • Strong computer proficiency.
  • Demonstrated team leadership capability.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
