Position Overview

The Courier is responsible for the timely and secure transport of laboratory samples and materials between collection sites and designated laboratory branches. This role ensures the integrity of specimens, maintains accurate documentation, and delivers exceptional service in compliance with safety and traffic regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Load all necessary suppliers needed for the daily pickups
  • Complete the daily pick up schedule in a timely manner
  • Deliver all daily picks to branches at the end of your shift
  • Handle lab samples in a safe and efficient manner
  • Safely operate a company vehicle and obey all traffic laws
  • Utilize handheld electronic device to manage daily picksups
  • Evaluate traffic patterns, alternative routes, and weather conditions as needed

Secondary Tasks

  • Provide professional and courteous service when interacting with clients and branch staff.
  • Identify and resolve minor issues related to pickup or delivery delays.

Equipment and Instrumentation Used

  • Company vehicle
  • Handheld electronic tracking device (for pickup and delivery confirmation)
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) for handling samples

Compensation: This is an entry-level role, compensated at $17.25 per hour, paid biweekly, with opportunities for overtime.

Technical Requirements and Skills

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Strong time management and punctuality
  • Attention to detail in handling and documenting samples
  • Ability to follow route instructions and adjust to unexpected conditions
  • Basic customer service and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to maintain accurate records using digital tools

Physical Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Able to lift, carry, and transport items up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to sit and drive for extended periods
  • Capable of entering and exiting a vehicle repeatedly during a shift
