The Lab Specialist supports laboratory operations by preparing samples, performing scientific tests, maintaining equipment, and assisting with research and data analysis. This role requires a strong scientific background and attention to detail to ensure accuracy, safety, and efficiency in all laboratory functions. The Lab Specialist works closely with team members to support ongoing projects and maintain compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
Location: 737 E 1180 S, American Fork, UT 84003 (On-site)
Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8 AM - 5 PM
Salary: $50,000 - $55,000/annually
Prepare, handle, and store biological and chemical samples in accordance with established protocols.
Perform microbiological and chemical tests, supporting ongoing laboratory experiments.
Operate and maintain laboratory instruments, including ICPs, HPLCs, spectrometers, and microscopes.
Ensure proper calibration and perform routine maintenance on lab equipment.
Maintain accurate and detailed records of procedures, observations, and results in both lab notebooks and digital systems.
Assist with data analysis, report preparation, and presentation of findings.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Stay informed of scientific advancements relevant to lab operations and research.
Participate in lab meetings and support quality or research initiatives as assigned.
Adheres to compliance with safety, regulatory, and company standards.
Maintains compliance with federal, state, local, and organizational laws, regulations, guidelines, and policies.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, or a related scientific field required.
1–3 years of laboratory experience preferred, ideally in nutraceutical, food, pharmaceutical, or supplement manufacturing environments.
Experience operating analytical instruments (e.g., HPLC, ICP, spectrometers, microscopes) strongly preferred.
Technical Skills
Solid understanding of GMP, GLP, and standard laboratory safety protocols.
Ability to perform routine chemical, physical, and microbiological testing with accuracy and precision.
Proficiency in maintaining laboratory documentation, lab notebooks, and digital data systems.
Familiarity with sample preparation, dilution techniques, and method execution.
Comfortable troubleshooting basic equipment issues and performing routine instrument calibrations.

Strong organizational abilities and the capability to manage multiple concurrent tasks.
Ability to follow established SOPs while identifying opportunities for process improvement.

Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant laboratory environment.
Additional Requirements
Ability to lift up to 25–30 lbs. and stand for extended periods, as needed for lab work.
Ability to work in environments with routine exposure to chemicals, solvents, powders, and laboratory equipment.
Flexibility to adjust priorities based on testing volume and production deadlines.
