Lab Support Technician

Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Lab Support Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting various laboratory tasks and supporting ongoing projects. This role requires attention to detail, organizational skills, physical strength for handling equipment, and a proactive attitude to ensure smooth lab operations.

Key Responsibilities:

· Gas Management:

o Ordering gas and replacing cylinders as needed

· Sample Preparation and Analysis:

o Drying down Soxhlet extractions.

o Preparing GCMS fractions and weighing samples/standards for IRMS.

o Conducting API measurements.

· Sample Handling and Transportation:

o Handling, storing, and organizing various samples in the lab.

· Assembly and Packaging:

o Assembling oil kits and GeoJars.

· General Lab Duties

o Assist fellow lab technicians with various tasks as needed to maintain efficient rock lab operations.

o Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.

o Follow all safety guidelines and standard operating procedures.

Qualifications:

· Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.

· Physical capability to handle heavy cylinders and lab equipment safely.

· Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

· Basic knowledge of laboratory procedures and equipment is preferred.

Compensation & Benefits:

· Compensation: $15.00 per hour.

· Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break.

Work Environment:

This role operates primarily within a laboratory setting. It requires adherence to safety procedures, careful handling of rock/oil samples and chemicals, and operation of lab equipment. The environment is collaborative and involves working closely with other Lab Technicians and the Lab Manager. The position requires the ability to lift at least 30 pounds and involves periods of standing, walking, and potentially sitting for specific tasks.
