Lab Tech

The Part-Time Lab Technician will be working 15-20 hours weekly and is responsible for supporting all aspects of patient care offered by Bradley Free Clinic. The Lab Tech must work as a team member to ensure safe, effective and efficient operations.

Duties:

Patient Care

• 
  Facilitates patient care by managing lab clinical inbox—develop processes to better management of clinic inbox as necessary.
• 
  Performs venipuncture and capillary specimens from adults and children.
• 
  Accesses appropriates of testing orders, verifies specimen and documents all testing events.
• 
  Performs clerical and specimen processing duties.
• 
  Files, verifies and maintains logs (lab work, COVID and stool).
• 
  Trains in the appropriate way to perform venipuncture, capillary and COVID testing.
• 
  Maintains all machines in office are controlled and ran every day in use.
• 
  Keeps work area stocked with supplies.
• 
  Maintains inventory, stock supplies and inventory count.
• 
  Assures all work tasks are complete by end of day.
• 
  Performs other duties as assigned.

  Experience working on a team and ability to work independently.
• 
  Excellent communication skills with patients, staff, and volunteer health care practitioners.
• 
  Patience, understanding, and compassion in direct interactions with patients; and
• 
  Highly organized and detail oriented.
• 
  Must have to ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
• 
  Must be self-motivated with good organizational skills.
• 
  Ability to maintain composure when faced with difficult situations.
• 
  Must be able to handle confidential situations with tact.
• 
  Ability to work with computers, electronic healthcare records, email and calendar programs, other programs including Excel and Google Drive, etc.
