JOB SUMMARY:


As an R&D Laboratory Technician, you will work collaboratively with three divisions within the CTS Research and Development (R&D) department. This position will conduct and assist in testing CTS products. . Applicant must be a U.S. citizen. Dual citizenship is allowed. Non-citizens or Green card holders need not apply.


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to follow instructions/procedures and finish assignments in a timely manner
  • Perform in-house standardized testing on cement, mortar, and concrete products
  • Operate and maintain various laboratory instruments and equipment
  • Participate in investigations on various R&D projects and tasks
  • Enter and manage laboratory data
  • Perform routine laboratory maintenance, including disposal, cleaning, and organization
  • Maintain good time management and organization in a fast-paced environment

Within your first year, you will be responsible for learning about the CTS company culture and working alongside project leads on various tasks associated with R&D initiatives.


During your first 30 days:

  • Learn about the company's mission, vision, and products
  • Shadow CTS Quality, R&D specialists/engineers on understanding the intricacies of testing CTS's products

Within 60 - 90 days:

  • Have a very detailed understanding of testing products
  • Be proficient at running various laboratory equipment
  • Have a routine to monitor testing samples for various projects

By 6 – 12 months:

  • Understand the difference between cement, mortar, and concrete
  • Be an ASTM testing guru familiar with over 20 test methods
  • Be knowledgeable about testing a variety of different cementitious products


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Associate or higher degree in a technical field is preferred
  • US Citizenship required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment and able to adjust workload based on weekly or daily changing priorities
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds regularly
  • Ability and openness to travel within the United States
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word

EXPERIENCE DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:

  • American Concrete Institute (ACI) certifications
  • Familiarity working with ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) standards
  • Experience working with cement, mortar, or concrete
  • Experience in a laboratory setting
