Lab Technician

Overview
Basic Function:

The laboratory technician must be able to perform all lab analysis; burettes, pipettes, pH/ion meters, laboratory balance, and be able to perform physical ans mechanical testing.

Technician will be handling hazardous materials including hazardous waste and must be accustomed to wearing protective equipment when necessary.

Chemical handling training will be provided prior to the start of performing these duties and will actively participate in ongoing hazardous waste and chemical handling training.

Duties

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

-perform wet chemical analysis of processing solutions

-perform physical and mechanical testing

-accurately report chemical analysis and test to quality manager

-complete all internal departmental documentation accurately

-keep accurate up to date records regarding current baths on production floor

-interacts with production personnel

-perform lab inventory and identify chemicals and equipment needed to order

-assists in writing departmental instructions and procedures using Excel, Word, and Access

-follow all safety measures when handling chemicals and hazardous waste with regard to use, mixing and disposing chemicals

-maintains a safe, neat and orderly work place

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

-sitting is required approximately 50% of the shift. The remaining 50% of the time is accomplished in a standing/walking position.

-reaching normally at shoulder level or just below, is required for approximately 50% of the time.

-lifting and carrying is normally limited to items 25-50 pounds for distances

Please note, work is performed in a manufacturing environment, surrounding can be loud and humidity and temperature is not controlled.

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

-ability to read, write and communicate in English to the degree necessary to perform the job

-working knowledge of process chemistry

-organized and attention to details

-able to lift 25-50lbs

-high school diploma

-4 or more years in a planting/anodizing or related chemical environment preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
