POSITION OVERVIEW
The Lab Technician is responsible for analysis and testing activities to determine constituent concentrations in solutions, optimal tank conditions and analysis of data to ensure accuracy and precision of routine analysis. The Lab Technician will use analytical instruments and other techniques to determine acceptability of results defined by specifications and optimize processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct analysis of trace metals and method optimization by using ICP-OES and AA
- Performs hull cell plating and panel plating in tanks to replicate production processes when necessary
- Performs stress and porosity testing for indicated tanks monthly
- Electrodeposition of metals and determination of purity, ensuring RoHS compliance
- Executes various analytical techniques including UV-VIS spectroscopy, gravimetric analysis, titrations, and surface tension measurements
- Performs statistical analysis of data to determine outliers and out of specification values
- Performs mathematical calculations to determine concentration, dilution factor, and conversions
- Analyzes job card data and data processing as requested
- Prepares samples, reagent preparation, and serial dilutions for daily analysis
- Creates analysis reports and maintains appropriate electronic records and files documenting experiments and research conducted during problem solving activities
- Calibrated pH and conductivity meters and other instruments as needed
- Reports any unsafe practices, health hazard working conditions, contaminated or abnormal process solution appearance, equipment malfunctions, etc.
- Performs housekeeping and follows safety regulations
- Works as an active team member by participating in problem solving, team building, and all other team activities to improve the processes, productivity, quality, etc. of the department
- Assists other team members as required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education:
Required: 2 years of college Chemistry is required
Certifications/Licenses: None
Experience:
Required: 1 – 2 years of industrial or academic research experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Physical Requirements: This position requires the employee to sit, stand, and walk frequently; lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 50 pounds; finger and wrist dexterity required.
Required to wear PPE (i.e. face, foot, eye, hand, and/or hearing protection)
Work Environment: While performing duties of the job, the employee will work in a metal finishing environment. The employee will be exposed to fumes and vapors, noise, chemicals, cold, heat, humidity, and dust.
ITAR REQUIREMENT
This position requires access to United States Export Controlled information.
Job Type: Full-time
Base Pay: $23.14 - $27.87 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
