Lab Technician

Job Summary
We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a background in microbiology laboratory procedures or have an associate’s degree or higher in a science related field and proven microbiology experience. The candidate would also possess excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle varying workloads in a timely manner. The position is responsible for the laboratory tasks associated with bacterial and mycotoxin analysis. Functions start with the receipt, logging in and initial preparation of client samples. Throughout the day, the technician is responsible for preparing reagents and media used in analysis, analyzing samples using test kits, recording data collected and reviewing certificate of analysis summarizing the results. Additional responsibilities include daily cleaning and maintenance of equipment, workstations and lab according to quality control protocols.

Requirements

• Proven experience working in an laboratory environment with a strong understanding of laboratory techniques and procedures.
• Familiarity microbiology practices is essential.
• Ability to pass a federal background check
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in a scientific field (biology, chemistry, or related discipline) preferred
• Attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Ability to adapt to changing workloads
• Ability to work some weekends

Job Type: Full-time

Expected hours: 40 per week
