Position
Lab Assistant/R&D Specialist

Job Purpose

The Lab Assistant shall assist the Laboratory Manager in performing the daily functions of the laboratory, including sample preparation, instrumental analysis by ICP or atomic absorption, titration assay for silver, and fire assay, just to name a few functions.

Primary job responsibilities:

  • Sample preparation for ICP, Titration, Fire Assay & Film Assay
  • Clean, run and maintain ICP and AA
  • Conduct titrations and fire assays
  • Maintaining the Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • Ammonia testing with ISE (Ion Selective Electrode)
  • Inventory and order supplies for the lab
  • Contribute to analytical method development for non-routine materials
  • Prepare standards and reagents as needed for the daily analysis requirements
  • In the absence of the Laboratory Manager, perform the necessary functions normally done by the Laboratory Manager

Requirements

Background / Experience:

  • Education requirement: an Associate’s degree in a scientific discipline with laboratory experience or at least two years’ course work toward a Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific discipline with academic lab experience. Inorganic Chemistry is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Computer experience
  • Well organized, multi-tasker and good with time management in high pressure situations
  • Ability to be versatile
  • Experience with Hazardous chemicals preferred
  • Experience in safety program preferred
  • Pre-employment drug screening and background check is required
  • Valid Driver’s License required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour
