Lab Technician

Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Lab Technician to join our team in a professional outpatient clinical setting. In this role, you will be responsible for collecting, labeling, documenting, and preparing urine specimens for shipment to a third-party laboratory for testing. This position focuses strictly on proper specimen collection, accurate data entry, and HIPPA compliance. The ideal candidate is dependable, maintains professionalism, and is comfortable working in a patient-focused environment.

Duties

• Collect urine specimens from patients in accordance with established procedures
• Ensure proper identification, labeling, and secure handling of all samples
• Maintain accurate documentation
• Prepare and package specimens for shipment to an external laboratory
• Enter patient and specimen information accurately into electronic systems
• Follow all privacy regulations (HIPAA), company policies, and safety protocols
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional collection area
• Provide clear instructions to patients while maintaining a respectful and professional demeanor
• Monitor and restock supplies as needed

Requirements

• Prior experience in specimen collection, healthcare, or a clinical setting preferred but not required
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict procedures
• Comfortable handling biological specimens
• Basic computer and data entry skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and maintain professionalism in a patient-facing environment
• Understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards
