Lab Technician

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Operate and perform routine maintenance on analytical instrumentation. Instrumentation includes but is not limited to:

Ion Chromatography (IC), Gas Chromatography Flame Ionization Detector (GCFID), High Performance Liquid Chromatography Variable Wavelength Detector (HPLC-VWD), High Performance Liquid Chromatography Refractive Index Detector (HPLC-RID), Karl Fischer Titrator, Gas Chromatography Mass Spec (GC-MS), Benchtop Spectrophotometer, UV-visible spectroscopy

· Responsible for receiving and preparing samples for routine tests on all instruments.

· With oversight, monitor inventory of laboratory consumables, including gas cylinders. Performs regular inventory of supplies.

· Ensure appropriate amounts of instrument solvents, reagents, and buffers are prepared to minimize any disruption to instrument operation.

· With oversight, maintains inventory of lab glassware and other non-consumables.

· Responsible for ensuring that instrument logbooks, reagent notebooks, etc. have plenty of blank approved forms for lab personnel to use.

· Some weekend and holiday coverage will be required. Typical daily responsibilities include:

Conduct routine and non-routine chemical and physical analyses on raw materials, intermediate products, and finished products using a range of analytical techniques. Supports the routine maintenance of analytical instrumentation.

Perform analyses accurately and efficiently according to Good Laboratory Practices, while adhering to established procedures and protocols.

Document and maintain records of analytical data, test results, and observations, ensuring accuracy and traceability.

o Maintains cleanliness, organization, and calibration of laboratory equipment, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.

o Analyze and interpret test results, comparing them against established specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.

· As needed, support the fermentation team with routine work. This includes:

o Daily operation of benchtop Bioreactors according to SOP.

o Reagent/media preparation.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

· Associate’s degree in a science related field such as microbiology, food science, or chemistry

· 1-3 years of related work experience

· Strong organizational skills

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

· Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

· Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.

· Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
