Overview
Vertex Analytical Labs LLC is hiring a Laboratory Technician. We operate ISO/IEC 17025 accredited facilities specializing in analytical chemistry and microbiological testingf for the food, beverage, and nutraceutical industries.
This role is designed for a recent graduate looking to build a foundation in a high-throughput, regulated laboratory. You will start with sample preparation and microbiological screening, with clear pathways to train on routine HPLC operation and data generation.
Responsibilities
- Prepare food, beverage, and botanical samples for chemical extraction and microbiological plating.
- Prepare mobile phases, reagents, and microbiological media.
- Perform basic microbiological testing, including serial dilutions, plating, and enumeration using aseptic techniques.
- Assist senior analysts with the setup and routine operation of HPLC/UHPLC systems.
- Operate HPLC/UHPLC systems for routine potency testing and functional ingredient assays.
- Maintain laboratory inventory, wash glassware, and ensure a sterile, organized workspace.
- Document all procedures and preparations in real-time, learning and strictly adhering to our Quality Management System.
- Perform routine instrument calibration (e.g., balances, pipettes, pH meters).
Requirements
- B.S. in Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science, or a closely related discipline (recent graduates are encouraged to apply).
- Hands-on laboratory experience from academic coursework or internships, specifically with aseptic technique and basic pipetting.
- Theoretical understanding of chromatography (HPLC) and fundamental microbiology.
- High attention to detail and a strict commitment to following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Strong work ethic and readiness to learn.
Preferred Qualifications
- Academic or internship experience working in a regulated environment.
- Interest or basic proficiency in laboratory automation, Python, R, or advanced Excel functions for data handling.
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
