Overview

Lemedix is expanding its laboratory operations in the Chicago area and is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support evening specimen intake and testing workflows across multiple facilities.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume lab environment and is looking to grow within a scaling healthcare organization

We are hiring a Laboratory Technician to support evening intake, processing, and testing workflows tied directly to this multi-site route.

Summary

Position Summary

The Laboratory Technician supports laboratory operations under the supervision of licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientists (CLS). Responsibilities include specimen processing, assisting with diagnostic testing, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, label, and process biological specimens (blood, urine, etc.)
  • Prepare specimens for testing (centrifugation, aliquoting, preservation)
  • Ensure accurate data entry into laboratory systems
  • Assist with PCR and urinalysis (UA) workflows, including reflex testing
  • Maintain organized and compliant work environment
  • Support quality control procedures and documentation
  • Assist with troubleshooting specimen-related issues
  • Maintain inventory of lab supplies and equipment
  • Follow all SOPs, safety, and regulatory standards
  • Support turnaround time and workflow efficiency

Preferred Background (Strongly Encouraged)

We are especially interested in candidates with experience similar to:

  • Laboratory Processor / Lab technician experience
  • Handling and processing biological specimens
  • Experience with centrifugation, aliquoting, and sample prep
  • Data entry in lab systems or healthcare records
  • Exposure to clinical or public health environments
  • Supporting lab staff with daily operations and workflow

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and process specimens from daily multi-site courier route
  • Follow SOPs for specimen handling, labeling, storage, and preparation
  • Assist with PCR testing and urinalysis (UA) workflows, including reflex testing
  • Prepare and load reagents, calibrators, and controls
  • Perform specimen aliquoting, pipetting, and data entry
  • Review pending tests and ensure timely processing
  • Maintain reagent inventory and lab supplies
  • Support quality control and documentation procedures
  • Assist with equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Ensure compliance with CLIA and internal QA standards
  • Support lab efficiency and turnaround time improvements

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Biology, or related field (Required)
  • 2+ year of clinical laboratory or specimen processing experience (Required)
  • Phlebotomy experience or certification (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and lab procedures
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Schedule

  • Monday–Saturday coverage
  • Evening schedule aligned with daily specimen route completion and lab intake
