South Beach Orthotics and Prosthetics is seeking a Lab Technician in our Davie, FL office.

The O & P Fabrication Specialist helps to build and customize medical products for our patients, (orthotics and prosthetics), to provide maximum fit, function, cosmetics, and workmanship. The Fabrication Specialist is expected to keep abreast of all new fabricating techniques and must be familiar with the properties of pertinent materials and must be skilled in the use of appropriate equipment. Hours may fluctuate depending on the daily work order demands.

Your daily duties will be static and dynamic. There are many physical demands that will include but will not be limited to:

  • Metal bending, upper and lower extremity orthoses, manage inventory and participate in quality control.
  • You must be able to demonstrate your ability to work as part of a team. You will participate in workflow management and practice “lean” techniques throughout the fabrication process.
  • You are required to meet established turnaround times for completion of high-quality Orthotics & Prosthetics.
  • You are expected to adhere to device quality and lab safety standards.
  • You must be able to read and comprehend fabrication work orders, lab manuals, process/procedural manuals.
  • You must be dependable,punctual,and flexible in your daily approach to fabrication as schedules can change and “Rush” work is required.
  • Must be able to complete documentation in an accurate and thorough manner as it relates to fabrication, repairs, and adjustments.
  • This practice is very busy and rewarding.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to:

  • Sit, stand,squat and crouch, communicate with other employees and operate machinery.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • You must be capable of functioning effectively under moderate or high stress levels due to work subject to time constraints, responsibility to deliver, and the need for rapid adaptation within a dynamic work environment.
  • The noise level in the work environment can be significant while using machinery. Protective equipment is provided.
  • Perform fabrication and repair of orthotic and/or prosthetic devices, according to Company quality and quantity standards.
  • Perform ordering and receiving and other inventory tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work environment.
  • Maintain your personal workspace safe, clean and orderly.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements.
  • Must always wear the provided PPE in designated areas NO EXCEPTIONS
  • Perform other related duties as required.

  • Increase knowledge and hand skills needed to fabricate and repair prostheses and orthoses according to specifications.

Working Hours are 7:00 am – 4:00pm Lunch 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
