About the Role
We are currently seeking a highly motivated, driven, and collaborative technician to work on the development and optimization of Mori's patented reactor and purification processes to extract silk protein from a naturally produced feedstock. This position is completely

Performance of lab and/or pilot plant duties, including equipment operation, maintenance, cleaning and sanitation

Protein extraction and purification on lab/pilot scale equipment based on established SOPs

Contributes to conception and execution of bench scale and pilot R&D runs for new process and materials development

Daily quality control for protein solution characterization with established SOPs
-
Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks

Regular communication of results, recommendations for procedural changes, safety hazards and issues, and more to the team and supervisor

Maintain a clean, safe work environment

Performs requiring the consistent exercise of discretion and judgment

Maintain production paperwork, files, and databases

Follow all plant GMPs and procedures

What You Will Bring
-
Bachelor’s Degree, Associate Degree, or Biotechnology Certificate involving lab-based coursework in chemistry, biology, biotechnology, chemical engineering, bioengineering, or a similar field

Basic knowledge of protein sample handling

Ability to work well independently or on a team depending on the task

Pipetting skills and safe-lab practices are a must
-
Ability to work flexible and off hours on an as needed basis including ability to work a rotating schedule with different shifts and occasional weekends for extended R&D activities

Ability to stand and walk for the majority of your work day in a laboratory and plant setting and lift up to 40 pounds with or without assistance
Bonus points if….

Experience with basic engineering unit operations – stirred tanks, purification, filtration equipment, and drying

cGMP compliant process experience in pharma or food
