Associate Attorney – Labor & Employment

Tucker Ellis LLP is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join our sophisticated and nationally recognized Labor & Employment group in our Los Angeles office. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex employment litigation matters within a collaborative, growth-focused environment.

About the Role

As our practice continues to expand on the West Coast, we are seeking a highly skilled labor and employment attorney, ideally with some portable business (approximately $100,000+ would be ideal), to help further grow our presence in California. This opportunity is ideal for a senior associate or counsel-level attorney seeking an entrepreneurial platform backed by the resources of an Am Law 200 firm. We are looking for an attorney with a minimum of 6 years of labor & employment experience in a law firm setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent employers in single-plaintiff and complex employment litigation matters, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour, and PAGA actions

• Independently manage all phases of litigation from pre-litigation evaluation through trial or resolution

• Draft and argue motions, including dispositive motions and class certification briefing

• Manage written discovery and take/defend depositions

• Participate in mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and trials

• Provide day-to-day counseling and risk assessment on employment law issues, including leaves of absence, accommodations, discipline, and terminations

• Work closely with partners and leadership to strengthen existing client relationships and develop new business

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

• Minimum of 6 years of experience in labor and employment litigation

• Portable book of business (approximately $100,000 or more preferred, but not required)

• Strong oral and written advocacy skills

• Demonstrated ability to manage cases and client needs independently

• Admission to practice in California

Salary Range

Starting at $235,000+ per year, with compensation commensurate with experience and portable business. Actual compensation will reflect qualifications and the extent of portable clients.
