Job Summary
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Laboratory Accessioner, where your attention to detail plays a critical role in ensuring accurate and efficient specimen processing. In this fast-paced role, you will be responsible for receiving, verifying, and entering patient and specimen information into the system with precision. You will help maintain proper documentation, ensure specimens are correctly labeled and routed, and support seamless communication between departments. Your accuracy and organization will directly contribute to timely testing and the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Duties
- The accessioner is responsible for the processing of laboratory requisitions and test specimens in the pre-analytical and/or post-analytical phase, with occasional involvement in the analytical phase under the constant and direct supervision of licensed personnel, to ensure positive patient/specimen identification and accurate test information are maintained throughout the entire process.
- Occasionally assisting with picking up samples and send outs
- Timely and accurate receiving, accessioning, and processing of laboratory test requisitions and specimens;
- Identifying and labeling all specimens with assigned specimen numbers;
- Performing accurate and timely data entry of patient demographics, test orders, and diagnosis information;
- Reviewing requisitions and correcting demographic or order discrepancies to minimize delays in testing;
- Biological specimen labeling, handling, preservation, transportation, storage, and disposal in accordance with laboratory protocols;
- Spinning, aliquoting, and segregating specimens following approved processing procedures;
- Maintaining proper organization and tracking of original and pour-off specimens;
- Preparing send-out test requisitions and specimens;
- Performing daily specimen maintenance and disposal of completed samples following established protocol;
- Working collaboratively with specimen processors, data entry staff, couriers, and laboratory personnel;
- Re-prioritizing daily tasks based on testing volume and operational needs;
- Assisting with clerical, administrative, and supply stocking duties as assigned by the supervisor;
- Maintaining a safe and clean working environment at all times;
- Performs other duties as assigned that are necessary to ensure efficient operations, patient care, and compliance with organizational standards.
Skills
- Have earned a high school diploma, or its equivalent, as determined by HCFA under CLIA;
- Have at least one year of experience in a medical laboratory, data entry, or related healthcare environment (preferred);
- Skills required for proper specimen labeling, handling, preservation or fixation, processing or preparation, transportation, and storage of specimens;
- A working knowledge of specimen stability and storage;
- Demonstrate familiarity with Medical laboratory terminology; Laboratory workflows, standards, and procedures; Computer systems and laboratory information systems;
- Demonstrate the ability to follow written procedures; Multitask in a fast-paced and stressful environment; Communicate technical information and follow directions from CLS staff and supervisors;
- Utilize office and laboratory equipment including computers, printers, barcode label printers, fax machines, and copiers;
- Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail when processing patient and test information.
Pay:$19/hour

Schedule: We are hiring for 2 roles for the following schedules. Priority for first hired.
1. Full-time; Saturday-Wednesday. On-site in Cypress, CA
2. Full-time; Tuesday-Saturday. On-site in Cypress, CA
Shifts:
Monday-Wednesday: 9pm-5:30am
Tuesday-Friday: 7pm-3:30am
Saturday: 3pm-11:30pm
Sunday: 11am-7:30pm
