Duties:

Full time Lab Assistant Scientist (temp position).

The candidate should have solid knowledge of plant biology and biotechnology.
-
The candidate will perform plant genetic transformation experiments and other related laboratory tasks in a team-based environment or work independently by following work instructions, including performing tissue culture transfers, documenting observations and measurements and reporting results, conclusions and next steps.

Typically reports to a senior scientist or a team leader.
Skills:
Research Skills Required:
-
At least a bachelor's degree in biology, plant biology, horticulture, agronomy, genetics, plant breeding, or related field.

At least 1 year of hands-on laboratory experience in aseptic cell culture, tissue culture, cell biology, molecular biology, plant transformation, and plant care.

Experience with bacterial cultures, bacterial transformation, DNA restriction digestion, gel electrophoresis and PCR.
Research Skills Preferred:
-
Preferred experience in plant tissue culture, plant genetic transformation and transgene expression, preferably in field crop genetic transformation.

Preferred knowledge/experience in Agrobacterium-mediated transformation and/or plant -microbial interactions.

Experience independently planning and executing research projects in plant science, including presenting results and planning next steps.

Good general computer skills including use of Microsoft Office applications. High level of comfort with data entry, processing, analysis, and presentation, including producing charts and tables for communicating results.
