Laboratory Equipment Maintenance Technician

US BioTek is seeking a full-time onsite Lab Equipment Maintenance Technician tomaintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and systems to ensure optimal operational efficiency, including support of existing systems, new systems implementation, and associated documentation tasks. This role will perform regular maintenance, resolve technical issues and support lab staff in the safe and effective use of lab technology.

RESPONSIBILITIES include:

  • Identifying hardware and software solutions
  • Performing scheduled preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment
  • Investigate failures or unexpected maintenance problems, speak to users to get to root of the problem, follow up to ensure issue is resolved
  • Understanding and implementing the overall technical vision for projects, programs, or systems, keeping in mind cross-functional impacts, integration across the organization and architecture rationalization
  • Working closely with team to implement and document automation solutions that align with the business needs and consistent with the architectural vision
  • Providing development and testing support, and following implementation of standards and best practices in alignment with US BioTek architecture patterns
  • Identifying the educational needs of laboratory staff, developing educational or training program and teaching or instructing others
  • Preparing standard operational procedure for system usage, document robotic application development, maintenance, or changes
  • May develop requirements, test plans, and perform testing, analysis and reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or medical engineering; or equivalent work experience.
  • 2 years’ related experience, preferably in a laboratory or clinical setting preferred.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electronic, and computer systems, particularly those used in laboratory environments.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office required; programming language knowledge such as Python a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analysis skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and time management; ability to prioritize competing priorities in a complex and fast paced environment.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical information effectively.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, sit/stand for extended periods, as well as bend, squat and reach.
  • Fine motor skills, including ability to use hand tools.
  • Visual Acuity and ability to see and manipulate small parts within electronic equipment.

Pay Range: $25/hr - $30/hr, DOE

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
