Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Send Out Specialist to join our dynamic research and clinical laboratory team. In this vital role, you will coordinate the efficient processing, documentation, and shipment of biological specimens and laboratory samples to external testing facilities. Your expertise will ensure that specimen handling adheres to strict quality standards, laboratory procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Duties
- Manage the receipt, labeling, and proper storage of specimens collected from various sources, ensuring compliance with laboratory protocols and safety standards.
- Coordinate specimen shipment logistics, including packaging, documentation, and communication with external laboratories or testing centers.
- Maintain accurate records of all specimen movements using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and other data management tools.
- Verify specimen integrity through visual inspection and data analysis skills, including assessing sample quality for assays such as ELISA, PCR, flow cytometry, and immunoassays.
- Ensure proper specimen processing techniques such as blood sampling (venipuncture), RNA extraction, DNA isolation, and blood banking procedures are followed meticulously.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate specimen collection, processing, and transportation in accordance with hospital or research laboratory standards.
- Perform routine laboratory procedures involving aseptic techniques, physiology knowledge, anatomy understanding, and blood banking practices to support clinical trials or research projects.
- Assist in maintaining laboratory equipment calibration and managing Laboratory information management systems (LIMS) for accurate data tracking.
- Support laboratory management activities by adhering to safety protocols, documenting procedures accurately, and ensuring compliance with medical terminology standards.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a clinical or research laboratory setting with a strong understanding of laboratory techniques such as PCR, ELISA, flow cytometry, RNA extraction, DNA isolation, and immunoassays.
- Hands-on experience with specimen collection methods including venipuncture (blood sampling), phlebotomy techniques, and blood banking procedures.
- Familiarity with laboratory management systems (LIMS) for data entry, tracking samples, and generating reports.
- Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to clinical trials or hospital environments.
- Strong data management skills combined with the ability to analyze complex datasets accurately.
- Excellent understanding of laboratory procedures related to physiology and anatomy that impact sample handling and processing.
- Experience working within a hospital or clinical environment is highly desirable.
- Ability to follow aseptic techniques rigorously while handling biological specimens.
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with multidisciplinary teams involved in specimen collection and processing.
