Laboratory Tech (MLT, MT, MLS)

PURPOSE

Provide laboratory service for a 7-bed Rural Emergency Hospital in a timely and concise manner.

SCOPE

Collect and process samples and perform waived, moderately complex and highly complex laboratory testing in a timely and concise manner. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS/JOB KNOWLEDGE

MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology, Biology, or Chemistry with completion of a Medical Technology training program.
• Registry eligible.
• ASCP or NCA registration preferred.
• Ability to resolve complex problems independently.
• Provide clear and concise consultation to other laboratory personnel, hospital personnel, and physicians.
• Excellent oral and communication skills.

MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN:

• Associate of Science degree with completion of a Medical Laboratory Technician training program.
• Registry eligible.
• ASCP or NCA registration preferred.
• Ability to resolve complex problems independently.
• Provide clear and concise consultation to other laboratory personnel, hospital personnel, and physicians.
• Excellent oral and communication skills

Essential Job Responsibilities

Understand and comply with policies and procedures.

Dependability & Responsibility (attendance, punctuality, follows instructions. Venipuncture skill.

Performs Daily Quality Control & Daily Maintenance per guidelines.

Completes testing in a timely, concise manner.

Operation and Troubleshooting of Chemistry Analyzers.

Operation and Troubleshooting UA Analyzer.

Operation and Troubleshooting Hematology Analyzer.

Operation and Troubleshooting Coag Analyzer.

Blood Bank Testing (type, RH, Antibody Screening, compatibility testing, QC), Courtesy and Professional Conduct (patients, lab staff, physicians, other employees).

Misc. Testing (serological/micro testing, microsopics, etc.). Communication (shares important information with co-workers, supervisor, fellow employees, physicians).

Overall Quality of Performance and Conduct.

Pay: $20.00 - $35.00 per hour
