Job purpose
Laboratory Technician will be responsible for testing of materials like concrete, aggregate, soil, asphalt, blocks etc.
Qualifications
Shall have a diploma in civil engineering or at least college degree in science field.
Skills
- Shall be able to use computer and operate Microsoft Excel and Word
- Must be hardworking, punctual and problem solver
- Should speak and understand English
- Should holds a valid driving license
- Shall have knowledge of ASTM Standards, British Standards and ISO 17025 requirements
Duties and responsibilities Technician shall perform the following tests independently as per requirements of ASTM and BS:
- SOIL: (Sieve Analysis, Atterberg Limits, Classification, MDD/OMC, Max./ Min. Density, CBR, Specific Gravity, Field Density Tests by Nuclear and Sand Cone Method etc.)
- CONCRETE: (Slump, Temperature, Unit Weight, Air Content, Cylinder/Cube Making, Curing, Density, Capping, Compressive Strength, Schmidt Hammer, Coring)
- AGGREGATE: (Sampling, Sample Quartering, Sieve Analysis, Clay Lumps, Soundness, Loss Angeles, Specific Gravity, Flakiness and Elongation Index, Sand Equivalent)
- ASPHALT: (Bitumen Extraction, Marshall Compaction, Stability and Flow, Specific Gravity etc.)
Shall perform tests as per project specifications and client requirements.
- Prepare the lab and site testing timesheet and submit to Lab Supervisor on daily basis.
- Prepare the testing worksheets and reports and submit to Lab Supervisor for review on daily basis.
- Notify Lab Manager before calibration of any equipment expires.
- Maintain and clean equipment. Keep inventory of the site and lab equipment in main lab.
- Maintain the log book of incoming samples and outgoing equipment on daily basis.
- Shall collect samples from sites and deliver to main lab.
- Shall follow the procedures of lab quality management system and comply with ISO 17025 requirements.
