Laboratory Technician (Late Evening Shift)

Location: San Jose, CA (In-person)

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6:00 PM – 2:00 AM

Overview

We are looking for a reliable, hands-on Technician to support our furnace operations during the evening shift. This is an execution-focused role: you will follow specific instructions to run machines and handle samples independently while the daytime team is away. No advanced research or design experience is required.

Duties

• Loading/Unloading: Carefully place substrates into CVD furnaces and remove them after runs.
• Recipe Execution: Start/stop equipment and adjust gas flow/temperature based on a provided checklist.
• Basic Inspection: Use an optical microscope to take photos of samples and save them to a shared folder.
• Data Logging: Record simple numbers (pressure, time, temperature) in a daily log.
• Maintenance: Clean the furnace tubes and keep the work area tidy for the next morning's shift.
• Shift Handover: Provide a brief status update via email or messaging app to the engineering team at the end of each shift.

Requirements

• High school diploma or Associate degree.
• Proven experience in a hands-on environment (e.g., machine shop, assembly line, or lab operation).
• Extreme attention to detail: Ability to follow a 10-step checklist without skipping a step.
• Comfortable with repetitive tasks and working around high-temperature equipment.
• Basic computer skills (email, saving files, Excel).
• Independence: Ability to work responsibly and safely with minimal on-site supervision.
• Initial Training: Availability for an initial 1-2 week training period during daytime hours (e.g., 9 AM - 6 PM) to master safety and operational protocols.
