Laborer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a hardworking and dependable laborer to assist with the construction of retaining walls for residential, commercial, and municipal projects. The ideal candidate is comfortable with physical labor, has basic construction knowledge, and is eager to learn specialized wall-building techniques. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a niche area of the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation of job sites by clearing debris, excavating soil, and setting up layout lines.
• Load, unload, and transport materials such as concrete blocks, gravel, drainage pipes, and tools.
• Place and align retaining wall blocks or stones according to plans and site markings.
• Perform backfilling, compacting, and installation of geogrid or drainage materials behind walls.
• Operate basic construction tools and assist with small machinery (e.g., plate compactors, skid steers).
• Follow project specifications and work under direction of experienced installers or supervisors.
• Maintain a clean and organized job site.
• Adhere to all safety guidelines and wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE).

Qualifications:

• OSHA 10 certified
• Ability to operate a D1 (shovel)
• Previous construction, hardscaping, or landscaping experience is preferred but not required.
• Physically able to lift heavy materials (80 lbs.), bend, dig, and work on uneven terrain.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Basic understanding of tools and safe equipment use.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Reliable transportation to and from job sites.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 - $35.00 per hour
