Laborer Pipe Layer - Underground Utilities

Moore Construction is seeking an experienced Underground Utility Pipe Layers to join our team. This position is responsible for assembling, installing, and repairing pipe systems for storm sewers, sanitary sewers, fire lines, and water mains. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in underground utility work, can work efficiently in a team environment, and takes pride in quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, align, and connect pipe systems for underground utilities
• Cut, fit, and seal pipe sections using approved methods (cement, gasket, welding, or adhesives)
• Read and follow blueprints, layout instructions, and supervisor direction
• Use lasers, grade rods, and transit levels to ensure proper grade and alignment
• Dig, prep, and maintain trenches to required specifications (hand or machine excavation)
• Backfill and cover installed pipe systems with appropriate materials
• Install or repair stormwater and sanitary sewer structures and piping systems
• Locate and expose existing utilities for repair or replacement when needed
• Operate equipment such as trenchers, loaders, backhoes, dump trucks, and related machinery
• Maintain safe jobsite practices at all times
• Train or assist less experienced crew members when needed

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year experience in pipe laying or underground utility work (required)
• Ability to read basic measurements, follow instructions, and interpret layouts/blueprints
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods
• Valid driver’s license required
• Must be able to safely lift up to 50 lbs
• Must pass drug screening and criminal background check

• Ability to work in trenches and uneven terrain
• Frequent use of hands, tools, and equipment

Pay: $17.00 - $25.00 per hour
