GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Laborer supports daily operations within the Raw Sugar Production department by performing a variety of physical and general labor tasks to maintain efficient and safe plant conditions. Responsibilities include assisting with cleaning, material movement, equipment checks, and general facility upkeep. This role requires a strong work ethic, adaptability to various tasks, and a commitment to teamwork and safety compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operate basic machinery and equipment safely and efficiently.

Maintain cleanliness in the work areas, including sweeping, mopping, and disposing of waste materials.

Assist in monitoring and ensuring product quality, reporting any discrepancies or issues to supervisors.

Assist in various stages of the sugar milling process, following standard operating procedures.

Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols, using personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Clean and maintain assigned work areas, including sweeping, shoveling, hosing, and clearing debris.

Assist in material handling activities such as stacking, loading, and transporting supplies or waste materials.

Support operational crews with setup, teardown, and cleanup of production areas and equipment.

Monitor work areas for safety hazards and immediately report any concerns to supervision.

Perform basic maintenance tasks under direction, including lubrication, minor repairs, or equipment adjustments.

Follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs) and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Assist during emergency shutdowns or cleanouts as needed.

Participate in safety meetings and training sessions.

Complete basic documentation as directed, including cleaning logs or task checklists.

Performs other related projects and assignments as business dictates.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior workers.

Ability to use hand tools and power tools.

Organizational and time management skills.
LICENSES REQUIRED: Regular Class “E” Driver’s license.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Regular attendance is required during your scheduled shift.

Must be able to work in hot, cold, wet, humid, dusty, and foggy working conditions depending on the weather.

Must be able to work in all positions (overhead, kneeling, reaching, crawling & working in small workspaces).
- Must be able to occasionally lift to 50 pounds.
