Licensed Counselor (LAC / LIAC / LPC)

Another Level of Community Services (ALOCS)

The Licensed Counselor reports to the Clinical Director for scheduling and communication purposes and plays a vital role in supporting individuals on their path to recovery and wellness.

Position Responsibilities

  • Provide individual counseling sessions addressing:
  • Substance abuse and relapse prevention
  • Community reintegration
  • General mental health concerns
  • Co-occurring disorders
  • Anger management
  • Domestic violence
  • Trauma and other underlying challenges
  • Support members in processing and resolving trauma, including:
  • Physical, emotional, and psychological abuse
  • Addiction and recovery-related issues
  • Collaborate with members’ families, as appropriate, to support understanding of the recovery process
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the ALOCS EHR system (all records remain ALOCS property)
  • Work collaboratively with the clinical team to address ongoing concerns and problem-solve
  • Assist with monthly chart audits
  • Facilitate group sessions, provide staff training/oversight, and complete additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a recognized behavioral health field
  • Licensed as an Associate or Independent Counselor (LAC/LIAC/LPC)
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
  • Proficiency in:
  • Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Sheets)
  • Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Electronic Medical/Health Record (EMR/EHR) systems
  • Strong cultural competence and ability to work within a diverse, community-based organization
  • High level of compassion, social awareness, and professionalism in sensitive situations
  • Minimum age of 21
  • CPR and CPI certification (required within 30 days of hire)
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Preferred:

  • EMDR certification

Preferred Experience & Leadership Skills

  • 1+ year experience working with individuals in the re-entry/criminal justice system
  • 2–3 years of leadership or coordinator experience
  • Demonstrated ability to:
  • Lead and support case management staff
  • Communicate effectively (written and verbal)
  • Plan, organize, and manage time efficiently
  • Delegate responsibilities and make sound decisions
  • Experience with:
  • Strategic planning
  • Policy and procedure implementation
  • Program development
  • Ability to mentor, coach, and support staff while ensuring alignment with organizational goals
  • Capable of supporting PIOP program delivery staff

Work Schedule

  • Clinic Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Counseling Hours: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
  • Additional responsibilities may include group facilitation, staff training, and other assigned duties

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $70,000 – $78,000 annually (based on education, training, and experience)
  • Pay Schedule: Biweekly (every other Friday)
  • Paid Time Off (PTO) and Paid Sick Leave (PSL) accrued at 1.54 hours per paycheck

Additional Requirements

Due to the nature of our work and the population we serve:

  • All candidates must pass a criminal background check and drug screening
