*This is a hybrid position that combines on-site and remote work, as determined by the supervisor. The role supports breastfeeding services and requires flexibility to accommodate occasional adjustments to on-site coverage based on operational needs. The position includes an expectation to provide in-person services at the Plaza del Valle (PVD) and Van Nuys (VN) locations three (3) days per week, with the remaining workdays performed remotely to support cross-site telehealth lactation services. Coverage at the Downtown Los Angeles (DTLA) and Lynwood sites may be scheduled in advance as part of backup support for Lactation Services at Eisner Health.*

Position Summary:

The Lactation Consultant /Prenatal Health Educator (IBCLC) provides evidence base, culturally responsive lactation and infant feeding support to pregnant and postpartum families. This role includes assessing feeding concerns, developing individualized care plans, offering hands on education and counseling support. The Lactation Consultant collaborates with medical providers, CPSP staff, IBH and community partners to improve breastfeeding support and positive outcomes. The Lactation Consultant/Prenatal Educator is a member of the CPSP Enhanced Services team facilitating individual lactation support and group education to pregnancy care patients at Eisner Health.


Essential Duties:

  • Provides lactation assessment, management, and instruction to patients in the Postpartum Period.
  • Facilitates lactation classes for pregnancy, birth, postpartum and parenting patients.
  • Consults and collaborates with physicians, midwives and CPSP multidisciplinary team for complex needs in patient care.
  • Collaborates in development and implementation of new perinatal education, lactation program initiatives and grant implementation.
  • Maintains full documentation patient assessments and plan of care for lactation quality of care and CPSP compliance.
  • Participates actively in Birth Equity programs and grants to reduce gaps in breastfeeding and lactation equity.
  • Reviews education materials and collaborates in the development of educational tools to enhance patient education services.
  • Collaborates in internal and external referral coordination including: Mothers’ Milk Bank of California, Women Infants and Children Program (WIC), Doula Agencies, Maternal Mental Health Now, and the hospital network.
  • Fosters partnerships with community organizations to develop lactation support, education, and advocacy in line with Eisner Health’s mission.
  • Stays current with the latest research and development in lactation and parenting education.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bilingual English/Spanish required.
  • Certified Lactation Educator (CLE), Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC, CLES).
  • Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) required.
  • Doula certification is not required but preferred.
  • Bachelor degree in nursing, community health, public health, lactation or related field is preferred but not required.
  • Experience providing lactation education and direct patient care.
