Position Summary :

The Land Manager – Permian Basin is responsible for overseeing all land activities in support of exploration and production operations within the Permian Basin. This role provides leadership and strategic direction for lease acquisition, surface and mineral negotiations, contract management, and regulatory compliance. The Land Manager will lead a team of land and regulatory professionals and collaborate with operations, geology, drilling, and completions teams to optimize the company’s acreage position, maximize value, and ensure alignment with corporate objectives. This role reports to the Vice President, Land.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage all land functions in the Permian Basin, including leasing, surface agreements, title, curative, and contract negotiations.
  • Lead and mentor a team of Landmen, Land Analysts, and support staff to achieve departmental goals.
  • Develop and execute land strategies to support drilling schedules, operational plans, and long-term asset development.
  • Negotiate and administer oil and gas leases, joint operating agreements, surface use agreements, rights-of-way, and easements.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations affecting land and mineral ownership in Texas and New Mexico.
  • Collaborate with geologists, engineers, and operations teams to align land activities with drilling and development programs.
  • Maintain strong relationships with mineral owners, surface owners, regulatory agencies, and industry partners.
  • Provide accurate reporting, acreage analysis, and due diligence support for acquisitions, divestitures, and joint ventures.
  • Manage land budgets, track obligations, and oversee land data integrity in land management systems.
  • Represent the company at industry meetings, hearings, and with regulatory authorities.

Required Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Energy Management, Land Administration, Business, or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive land experience in oil and gas, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of Permian Basin land practices, mineral ownership, surface issues, and regulatory requirements in Texas and New Mexico.
  • Proven experience negotiating leases, surface agreements, and contracts.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a high-performing land team.
  • Proficiency in land management systems (Quorum, Enverus, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent negotiation, relationship management, and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
