Land Surveyor Job Responsibilities
· Conduct detailed measurements of land, elevations, and structures using specialized surveying instruments.
- Establish property boundaries, ensuring they align with deed descriptions and legal records.
- Map out topographical features and existing infrastructure for pre-construction planning.
- Collect raw survey data and convert it into actionable information using CAD, GIS software, or other mapping tools.
- Analyze terrain data for slope, soil stability, and drainage characteristics to guide site design.
- Verify the accuracy of survey data by cross-referencing with historical land records and benchmarks.
· Prepare precise reports.
· Mark precise locations for construction features.
- Ensure alignment and grade levels are set correctly, adhering to engineering designs.
· Re-check and adjust survey markers throughout construction as site conditions change.
- Perform boundary surveys to establish legal property lines and resolve encroachments.
· Ensure compliance with local and state regulations.
· Assist in resolving disputes related to land ownership or easements by providing expert analysis and testimony when required.
· Work closely with engineers, architects, and contractors to integrate survey data into project designs.
- Participate in project planning meetings to offer insights on topography, property constraints, and construction feasibility.
- Monitor construction progress to ensure adherence to established benchmarks, tolerances, and specifications.
· Identify discrepancies between site conditions and engineering plans and recommend solutions.
- Adjust field markers and measurements to accommodate unforeseen site changes or issues.
- Regularly calibrate and maintain surveying tools and equipment to ensure optimal accuracy.
- Conduct site surveys with a strong focus on safety, including identifying and mitigating risks such as unstable ground or hazardous environments.
- Ensure all surveying activities adhere industry-specific safety standards.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and train teams on safe equipment handling.
- Document surveying processes, methodologies, and results in detailed project records.
- Maintain an organized archive of historical surveys, legal descriptions, and topographic maps for future reference.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Proficiency in surveying technology and software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- In-depth knowledge of construction processes and standards.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- At least 5 year-experience in construction industry in the UAE.
- Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, engineering, or similar.
