About Schneider Buchel LLP – “Protecting & Enriching Communities”

We’re a fast-growing law firm focused on real estate law, landlord-tenant law, employment and labor law, and discrimination law in our practice representing community associations throughout New York State.

Beyond the exciting work, our firm offers an incredible workplace environment. In our newly designed, state-of-the-art office in Woodbury, Long Island, enjoy access to a quiet room for uninterrupted work, an outdoor rooftop lounge with park-like atmosphere and stunning views, an in-house gym (at no charge to employees) for your wellness needs, a full-service café, and a spacious break room where you can recharge.

Our Culture & Values

Our firm is known for having a strong culture and investing heavily in our employees. We stand for a zero-toxicity environment, and we live and breathe our firm’s core values. We are always focusing on making our firm the best place to work. This is a firm that’s not just a place for a job, but for a career.

We bring high standards, sharp minds, and strong values to the table every day. Our team delivers best-in-class legal work with precision, urgency, and a relentless focus on client service. We lead in our market because we set the bar higher for quality, responsiveness, and results. We’re a firm that works hard, celebrates wins, supports one another, and never settles for “good enough.” If you thrive in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment where your contribution is celebrated and valued, you’ll feel right at home here.

About the Role

We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented litigation associate attorney with 3-5+ years of experience to join our expanding legal team. This role offers an opportunity to work within a busy and sophisticated landlord-tenant practice, with a particular focus on representing community associations, cooperatives, condominiums, and commercial property owners. The position involves meaningful client interaction, responsibility over matters from intake through resolution, and regular court appearances, with the level of autonomy tailored to the attorney’s experience. If you are seeking hands-on legal work, courtroom exposure, and long-term professional growth in a collaborative and well-supported environment, we would welcome the opportunity to speak with you.

This role should reside in the Long Island, NY area and is an in-office role.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Represent cooperative boards that benefit from the Business Judgment Rule under New York law, providing a significant legal advantage compared to standard landlord-tenant representations
  • Work on matters where legal fees are recoverable, leading to stronger case outcomes, better client results, and reduced friction over litigation strategy
  • Experience a higher rate of successful outcomes, including possession, compliance, and enforcement, resulting in more frequent positive client interactions
  • Handle cases that are often focused on conduct, governance, and quality-of-life issues rather than purely financial evictions
  • Represent volunteer board members acting pursuant to fiduciary duties, not profit-driven landlords, making the work more ethical and community-centered
  • Develop sophisticated legal skills at the intersection of landlord-tenant law, corporate governance, fiduciary duty, and contract interpretation
  • Build long-term relationships with experienced boards and managing agents who value strategic legal advice and become repeat clients

This practice offers a more rewarding way to practice landlord-tenant law in New York. Rather than representing investor landlords, attorneys in this role work with cooperative boards that are focused on protecting their communities and fulfilling fiduciary obligations. The legal posture of co-op matters, including the Business Judgment Rule and the ability to recover legal fees, leads to stronger results, more client appreciation, and a more sustainable and satisfying practice environment.\
