The Opportunity
We are seeking a skilled Design Assistant to join our team on a part-time basis at our Kirby Drive office. This is an in-office position — no remote work. This role has strong potential to grow into a full-time position for the right candidate.
You will work directly with the firm's owner and Design Department, providing hands-on support ranging from conceptual design layouts and on-site positioning to routine production duties and assignments. The goal is to ensure project timelines are met and client expectations are exceeded on every project.
What You'll Do
- Assist with conceptual design layouts and on-site positioning of landscape elements
- Produce detailed drawings and construction documents in AutoCAD, including grading plans, planting plans, hardscape layouts, and site details
- Create photorealistic renderings and visual presentations using Adobe Photoshop and related Adobe tools
- Build and refine 3D models in SketchUp and Rhino for design development and client presentations
- Draft and detail landscape architectural plans from concept sketches through permit-ready documents
- Conduct on-site field measurements of project sites and translate them into accurate base plans
- Assist in preparing cost estimates for landscape and site design, including researching materials, products, and objects for costing as directed
- Photograph and document job sites, products, and materials as directed
- Maintain project plan filing and organized project records
- Handle project follow-up tasks including picking up and dropping off plans, product samples, and materials
- Prepare polished design packages and presentation materials for client reviews
- Maintain open lines of communication internally with the design team and externally with clients and vendors
What We're Looking For
- Experience working in residential architecture, landscape architecture, or landscape construction
- Basic knowledge of both landscape design and construction practices
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (required)
- Hands-on experience with Adobe Photoshop for rendering and graphic production
- Working knowledge of SketchUp and Rhino for 3D modeling and visualization
- Comfortable with on-site field measuring and producing accurate as-built drawings
- Degree or coursework in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, or a related design field preferred
- Detail-oriented, self-directed, and able to manage production tasks and routine assignments independently
- Strong communication skills — you'll be working one-on-one with the owner and coordinating across the team
- Reliable personal transportation with state-mandated auto liability insurance on your vehicle (required)
Schedule & Growth
- Part-time, in-office only
- Strong potential to transition into a full-time role based on performance and firm needs
Pay: $25.00 - $26.00 per hour
