Landscape Construction - Eco/Sustainability

Are you a reliable, hardworking individual who appreciates diversity and craftsmanship in your work. At Salsbury-Schweyer, Inc you’d be working with a nationally acclaimed design firm to build sustainable landscapes of the highest caliper. This is an active, hands-on job that includes a variety of tasks, such as planting, carpentry, residential construction/demolition, hardscaping, drainage, and more. You’ll work closely with a small, tight-knit team to complete projects efficiently and to the highest standards. This is a seasonal position with competitive wages. (Full-time, year-round likely for a finish carpenter or similar level of expertise.)

What You’ll Do:

• Create exquisite exterior spaces like seen in books and magazines.
• Build and maintain garden landscapes, structures, ponds, and other outdoor installations: Primarily residential, using native and purposeful plants, some "farms", (no lawns).
• Some renovation of historic home interiors - particularly during inclement weather
• Use tools safely and efficiently (hand tools, power tools, etc.) to our quality standards
• Keep worksites clean, organized, and safe
• Follow directions, solve problems, adapt to changes, and communicate effectively
• Meaningful work: make a difference – create beauty while helping heal the planet

Requirements:

• At least 3 years of experience preferred: construction, landscaping, horticulture, or related fields. (For the right person, we will train.)
• Some construction skills (carpentry or other)
• Able to lift 50+ lbs and work long periods on your feet in various weather conditions
• Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented
• Strong work ethic, good attitude, and attention to detail
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Nice to Have:

• Diverse experience in permaculture, carpentry, construction, gardening/ farming
• Passion for ecological or sustainable landscaping
• Leadership or supervisory experience

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Required)

Pay: $17.00 - $27.00 per hour
