Landscape Foreman

A Landscape Foreman leads landscaping crews, manages projects from planning to completion, ensures safety and quality standards, and coordinates resources and client communications.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management: Oversee landscaping projects from design to implementation, ensuring tasks are completed on time and within budget. This includes reviewing project plans, interpreting landscape designs, and coordinating with clients, architects, and suppliers to meet specifications and expectations.
Team Leadership: Assign daily tasks, supervise crew members, provide on-the-job training, and evaluate performance. Recruit and train new staff, delegate responsibilities, and foster professional development while maintaining high morale.
Quality Control: Monitor the installation and maintenance of lawns, gardens, and outdoor spaces. Ensure proper use of fertilizers, pesticides, and equipment, and conduct regular inspections to maintain industry standards and client satisfaction.
Safety Management: Enforce safety protocols, ensure personal protective equipment (PPE) is used, and conduct safety briefings. Maintain a clean and hazard-free job site to minimize accidents and injuries.
Resource Coordination: Manage tools, equipment, and materials efficiently. Perform inventory checks, schedule maintenance, and provide cost, material, and time estimates for projects.
Administrative Duties: Maintain project documentation, including daily work logs, material usage reports, and employee time sheets. Communicate production goals and progress updates to management and clients.

Qualifications and Skills

• Relevant certifications may be required depending on local regulations.
• Strong knowledge of landscaping tools, equipment, and horticultural practices.
• Leadership, organizational, and time management skills.
• Ability to read and interpret landscape plans and drawings.
• Physical stamina for outdoor work, including bending, kneeling, walking, and lifting.
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Work Environment

Landscape Foremen primarily work outdoors, often in varying weather conditions, with some indoor administrative tasks. The role involves physical labor, supervision of crews, and direct interaction with clients and suppliers. Reporting is typically to a Landscape Manager or Director, depending on company structure.
