Landscape & Hardscape Material Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a high-energy Landscape & Hardscape Material Specialist who is as comfortable assisting customers at the counter as they are operating a forklift in the yard. You will serve as the face of our company, providing expert advice to contractors and homeowners while ensuring orders are accurately pulled and loaded. This is a hands-on role requiring physical stamina, mechanical aptitude, and a "customer-first" mindset.

Key Responsibilities

• Expert Consultation: Guide customers through material selection for patios, retaining walls, and providing technical advice on product features and installation.
• Precision Loading: Safely operate forklifts and front-end loaders to load bulk stone, mulch, and palletized pavers into customer vehicles and trailers.
• Sales & Service: Process transactions via POS systems, manage phone/online inquiries, and provide accurate quotes based on project measurements.
• Inventory & Merchandising: Maintain a clean, organized yard; assist with cycle counts; and ensure product displays are professionally staged to drive sales.
• Safety & Maintenance: Perform daily pre-shift inspections on equipment and adhere to all OSHA safety protocols to maintain a hazard-free work environment.

Qualifications

• Experience: 1+ years in retail/wholesale sales; experience in the green industry (landscaping, nursery, or hardscapes) is highly preferred.
• Equipment Skills: Proven experience or certification in forklift operation.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 80lbs frequently and work comfortably in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
• Soft Skills: Strong math skills for calculating material volumes (e.g., square footage, cubic yards) and excellent verbal communication for relationship building.
