Landscape Irrigation Field Technician

Position Summary

The Landscape Irrigation Field Technician is a high-level field specialist responsible for irrigation inspections, service calls, field diagnostics, repair work, support of installation crews, and leadership of irrigation portions of install projects. This role operates independently for much of the workweek and is expected to represent the company professionally with clients while producing quality technical work and generating revenue through repairs and upsell opportunities.

This is primarily a technician role that supports crews, not a full crew foreman role. The position is intended for a skilled field operator who can solve irrigation problems, complete documentation accurately, and coordinate priorities with the Install Manager.

Role Breakdown

  • 25% one-person service calls and irrigation inspections
  • 25% irrigation repairs
  • 10% equipment and material transport
  • 15% helping install crews
  • 25% leading irrigation portions of install projects

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform irrigation inspections and service visits independently
  • Diagnose irrigation issues and recommend solutions
  • Price small irrigation repairs in the field
  • Complete repairs including controllers, valves, wiring, drip, pumps, and 2-wire systems
  • Perform wet checks, audits, and troubleshooting
  • Lead irrigation scope on assigned install projects
  • Support install crews with irrigation layout and installation
  • Deliver tools, materials, and equipment to crews when needed
  • Maintain work truck inventory and field readiness
  • Submit restock requests for tools and repair materials
  • Enter notes, photos, material usage, and job details into Service Autopilot
  • Communicate professionally with homeowners, property managers, and clients
  • Identify and hand off or close upsell opportunities related to irrigation and related field issues
  • Coordinate priority changes with the Install Manager
  • Respond to after-hours irrigation emergencies as required

Required Qualifications

  • Strong English communication
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record
  • Irrigation repair experience
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to diagnose issues and communicate solutions clearly
  • Reliable attendance and dependability
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move tools and materials as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Independent troubleshooting experience
  • Spanish speaking ability
  • CDL
  • Towing and equipment transport ability
  • Ability to read irrigation plans
  • Experience using Service Autopilot or similar software

Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
