Landscape Laborer Foreman

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Landscape Foreman to lead our landscaping team in creating and maintaining beautiful outdoor spaces. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities and a comprehensive understanding of landscape maintenance, including irrigation, tree care, and lawn care. This role requires hands-on involvement in various landscaping projects while supervising team members to ensure quality work and adherence to safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the landscaping crew to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Oversee landscape maintenance tasks, including mowing, trimming, and fertilizing lawns.
  • Implement irrigation systems and manage watering schedules to maintain healthy plants and gardens.
  • Conduct tree care operations such as pruning, planting, and removal as needed.
  • Build and maintain garden beds, pathways, and other landscape features.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and used safely by team members.
  • Train new employees on landscaping techniques, safety protocols, and company policies.
  • Monitor project progress and quality of work to meet client expectations.
  • Communicate effectively with clients regarding project updates and any changes in plans.

Requirements

  • Maintain the physical fitness level necessary to complete assigned job tasks.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Able to speak, read, and write in English.
  • Able to communicate in Spanish, must be bilingual in English/Spanish.
  • Be able to manage, supervise, encourage the advancement, and discipline assigned crewmembers.
  • Demonstrate ability to train and schedule work for others on the job site.
  • Supervise daily truck and trailer set-up to facilitate the day's work.
  • Familiar with company manual and policies contained and set forth, including safety guidelines/standards.
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage and supervise assigned crewmembers.
  • Ability to complete daily worksheets in an organized and efficient manner.
  • Maintain equipment in good operating condition.
  • Able to train field staff in the application of chemicals.
  • Manage assigned projects practicing effective and efficient water management.
  • Demonstrate ability to recognize and complete repair of irrigation deficiencies.
  • Must have a valid California driver's license and be insured by company insurance carriers.
  • Be able to lift 50lbs or more

Job Skills

  • Train crewmembers to complete the job within an established time frame.
  • Encourage advancement of crewmembers after proper training has occurred.
  • Plan and organize work for crew members on the job.
  • Interface with clients when needed.
  • Familiar with the program Clipitc.
  • Supervise truck/trailer setup daily and manage equipment and supplies for landscape maintenance projects.
  • Properly discipline and reward crew members.
  • Enforce company safety policies and procedures.
  • Able to repair all components of irrigation systems.
  • Able to do minimal repairs to landscape equipment.
  • Program irrigation controllers on all assigned job sites.
  • Able to effectively drive and back up a truck and trailer combination.
  • Manage assigned projects by practicing effective water management techniques.
  • Recognize drainage deficiencies and problem soils.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the proper procedure for emergency spill cleanup.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the basic elements of fertilizers.
  • Use of safety equipment in the proper manner.
  • Able to identify by common names 50 frequently used plants that appear on the CLT plant list and demonstrate knowledge of the cultural requirements of those plants.
  • Participation in a training program for basic pest control procedures.
  • Establish relationships with customers.
  • Communicate with lead people and management regarding the status of assigned job sites.
  • Able to meet company production rates and standards.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
