Lanson B. Jones & Co. | Houston, TX Pay: $50,000 – $65,000 per year (based on experience) Job Type: Full-time Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (occasional extra hours during peak seasons)
Is This You?
You take pride in a perfectly edged bed line. You can switch from talking shop with your crew to walking a property with a homeowner without missing a beat. You'd rather work for a company that does fewer properties really well than one that's racing through 30 lawns a day.
If that sounds right, keep reading.
About Us
Lanson B. Jones & Co. is one of Houston's premier high-end landscape companies, serving discerning residential and commercial clients across the Greater Houston area. We've built our reputation on quality work, dependable crews, and long-term client relationships. Learn more about us at www.lansonbjones.com.
We're growing and looking for a hands-on Landscape Maintenance Supervisor to lead one of our crews. This is a great opportunity for someone with solid landscape experience who is ready to step up (or continue growing) in a leadership role.
What You'll Do
As a Maintenance Supervisor, you'll run a crew of 4 to 8 team members and be the key point of contact for the high-end residential and commercial properties you service. Day to day, that looks like:
- Leading and supervising your maintenance crew on properties across the Greater Houston area
- Scheduling work, managing crew hours, and making sure jobs get done on time and to our quality standards
- Coaching and training crew members on techniques, safety, and equipment use
- Keeping equipment in good working order and reporting issues before they become problems
- Communicating with clients in a professional, friendly manner. Handling questions, walk-throughs, and small change requests on site
- Helping prepare proposals and contracts for landscape maintenance, applications, and seasonal work
- Spotting potential issues on a property and taking action before they turn into bigger problems
- Tracking timesheets, billing posts, and paperwork accurately
- Working alongside our Maintenance Operational Manager and other supervisors as part of a team
What We're Looking For
We're hiring at the Landscape Maintenance Supervisor I or II level, with a preference for Supervisor II candidates.
Required:
- 2+ years of experience in high-end lawn and landscape work (will consider 1+ for the right candidate with strong supervisory potential)
- Bilingual English / Spanish (required to effectively lead our crews)
- Valid Texas driver's license with a clean record and proper insurance
- High school diploma or equivalent (two-year degree a plus)
- Solid working knowledge of plant materials, lawn care techniques, and landscape equipment
- Comfortable using basic tech: smartphone apps, email (Outlook), and tools like Microsoft Office, Teams, or Zoom
- Able to lift 50 lbs regularly and up to 75+ lbs occasionally
- Calm under pressure, organized, detail-oriented, and a self-starter
Nice to have:
- 3-4+ years in the high-end landscape industry
- Prior crew lead or supervisor experience
- Experience preparing proposals and managing client relationships directly
- Two-year college degree or equivalent
Have more experience than this role calls for? We'd still like to hear from you. We're growing, and exceptional candidates can sometimes shape a role around their strengths.
What We Offer
- Competitive pay: $50,000 – $65,000 per year, based on experience and level
- Company vehicle to drive while at work. No wear and tear on your personal vehicle and no gas out of pocket
- Health insurance with gap coverage to help cover deductibles and out-of-pocket costs
- Paid time off
- Steady, full-time work with one of Houston's most established high-end landscape companies
Why You'll Like Working Here
- Real properties, real craft. You'll work on landscapes worth taking pride in, not cookie-cutter mow-and-go accounts
- A team that has your back. You'll work alongside experienced supervisors and a Maintenance Operational Manager who actually answers their phone
- Room to grow. Strong supervisors at our company have a clear path to take on bigger crews, more accounts, or step into operations roles as we expand
- First two weeks are about ramping up. You'll shadow an experienced supervisor and get to know our properties, crews, and systems before running your own route
Work Environment
You'll split your time between our field office headquarters and job sites across the Greater Houston area. Expect to work outdoors in all seasons and weather conditions, as well as in a climate-controlled office for planning, paperwork, and meetings.
Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
