Landscape Maintenance Worker

Job Overview

Duties

• Mow lawns, trim edges, and perform general lawn care to keep landscapes pristine and healthy
• Operate hand tools, power tools, and landscaping equipment such as trimmers, blowers, and hedge cutters safely and efficiently
• Assist with landscape installation projects including planting, mulching, and hardscape installation
• Conduct tree care activities including pruning, trimming, and basic tree maintenance using appropriate tools like saws and pruners
• Support irrigation system installation, repair, and maintenance to ensure proper watering of landscapes
• Perform snow plowing during winter months to maintain safe pathways and driveways
• Maintain equipment through routine inspections, cleaning, and mechanical knowledge to ensure optimal operation

Skills

• Strong mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting and maintaining landscaping machinery and tools
• Experience with lawn care techniques including mowing, edging, fertilizing, and aeration
• Knowledge of landscape maintenance practices such as pruning, planting, fertilizing, and pest control
• Ability to operate hand tools (e.g., shovels, rakes) as well as power tools (e.g., chainsaws, trimmers) safely
• Familiarity with excavators or other construction equipment for larger landscaping projects
• Understanding of horticulture principles related to plant health and landscape design
• Skills in tree care including trimming, pruning, and basic arborist techniques
• Experience with irrigation systems installation and troubleshooting
• Ability to perform snow plowing safely during winter conditions
• Knowledge of hardscape features such as patios or walkways construction or repair is a plus
• Excellent teamwork skills with a proactive approach to maintenance tasks
