Overview
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Landscape Production Manager to lead our landscape construction teams. In this pivotal role, you will oversee daily operations, supervise crews, and ensure the highest standards of quality and safety across all projects.

Job Description: Landscape Production Manager

Work Schedule

  • Report to work at 6:45 AM or earlier during the work season to greet foremen and ensure crews leave the yard as promptly as possible.

Responsibilities

Job Oversight and Crew Management

  • Ensure work is accomplished in a timely manner, meeting the installation requirements of Fernhill Landscapes.
  • Manage foremen and crew members to ensure efficient job execution.
  • Oversee job outcomes, ensuring quality and timeliness.
  • Assist crews with installations when the schedule allows. Lighting, planting, hardscape.
  • Pre-excavating or cutting sod in advance of jobs.
  • Paint out bed lines, patios and other features in advance of jobs starting.
  • Set up plant materials with assistance from the crew or a crew member.
  • Try to be at the shop at the end of day if the schedule allows. Coordination, maintenance, material readiness.

Scheduling and Planning

  • Review sold files weekly. Request missing job folders during weekly meetings.
  • Consistently review files, work orders, designs, and specifications prior to weekly meetings and prepare questions.
  • Create and maintain an accurate production schedule, adjusting for weather or other delays.
  • Set goals to improve production efficiency, such as pre-excavating or cutting sod in advance of jobs.
  • Ensure daily timesheets are filled out by the crew leader daily and approve the timesheets.
  • Save production reports and production hours per crew.

Material Management

  • Order plant materials (hardscape) for jobs and coordinate pickup/delivery.
  • Create documentation for each job to track plant orders and substitutions.
  • Ensure that commonly used miscellaneous materials are in stock to minimize random hardware store stops.
  • Ensure materials needed for the next day are available.
  • Coordinate with suppliers for deliveries when strategically and financially practical.

Coordination and Communication

  • Coordinate with subcontractors for site meetings and municipality inspectors as needed.
  • Communicate with designers during projects to ensure the vision is executed.
  • Handle service calls and replacements, including communication with customers.
  • Inform customers of when jobs will be starting and ensure the client is well informed during the building process.

Employee Management

Performance Management

  • Assist in hiring and termination decisions for labor and crew leader positions.
  • Provide performance reviews for landscape foremen and laborers.
  • Keep records of employee tardiness, warnings, evaluations, and related documentation.
  • Report labor issues or potential problems to management.
  • Discipline employees when necessary.

Administrative Tasks

  • Distribute employee handouts and collect completed paperwork.
  • Promptly submit receipts and/or receiving paperwork for purchases.
  • Read, understand, enforce, and update SOP guidelines as needed.

Equipment and Vehicle Management

  • Ensure all equipment, including power tools, hand tools, and vehicles, are in good, safe working order.
  • Order new equipment and hand tools when necessary, coordinating with management for heavy equipment purchases.
  • Schedule regular maintenance for vehicles, including oil changes, brakes, and tires.
  • Plan for vehicle repairs and ensure timely completion.
  • Collect vehicle mileage for registration renewals and ensure vehicles comply with inspections and DOT regulations.

  • Jobs completed on time or under schedule.
  • Accurate and maintained job schedules.
  • Properly equipped crews with necessary tools and materials.
  • Timely submission of paperwork and documentation.
  • Well-maintained equipment and vehicles.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in scheduling and material coordination.
  • Knowledge of landscape installation techniques and processes.
  • Ability to handle administrative tasks with attention to detail.
  • Experience in managing teams and resolving issues effectively.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
