Landscape Site Work Operator – Grading, Excavation, and Grounds Preparation
Job Summary
The Landscape Site Work Operator is responsible for performing site preparation and landscape construction tasks, including grading, excavation, and grounds preparation, using a variety of heavy and light equipment. This role supports landscape installation projects by ensuring job sites are properly prepared, safe, and completed to specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate site work and landscaping equipment such as skid steers, excavators, loaders, compactors, trenchers, and grading equipment
- Perform grading, leveling, and excavation to meet project plans and elevations
- Prepare sites for landscaping, hardscaping, drainage, irrigation, and turf installation
- Load, transport, and distribute soil, gravel, stone, and other materials
- Install base materials for walkways, patios, retaining walls, and other landscape features
- Read and follow site plans, layouts, and grade stakes
- Perform routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site at all times
- Follow all safety regulations and company procedures
- Work collaboratively with crew members, supervisors, and project managers
Qualifications
- Previous experience in landscape site work, excavation, or grading
- Proficiency operating landscape and construction equipment
- Basic knowledge of site layout, elevation, and drainage principles
- Ability to follow instructions and work from drawings or verbal direction
- Strong attention to safety and detail
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Valid driver’s license required (CDL a plus, if applicable)
- Experience with hardscape preparation and installation
- Knowledge of irrigation, drainage systems,
- OSHA or equipment operation certifications
Pay: $33.00 - $35.00 per hour
