Overview

We are seeking a knowledgeable and hands-on Landscape Superintendent to support the installation, establishment, and ongoing maintenance of landscapes including green roofs and other on-structure landscapes. This role combines plant expertise with fieldwork and requires comfort working outdoors, at heights, and as part of a collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities

· Lay out and manage plant installations in the field following approved planting plans

· Train and guide crew members on horticultural best practices

· Monitor plant health on both new and established projects; diagnose pests, disease, irrigation, and nutrient issues; and develop and execute care plans

· Select, source, and purchase plant materials for both on-structure and at-grade landscapes (bulbs, plugs, containers, shrubs, and trees)

· Receive, document, and care for plant deliveries at both the shop and at active construction sites

· Collaborate with both internal and external project managers, designers, and field crews

· Occasionally develop planting plans as needed

· Maintain records of plant performance and maintenance activities

· Perform maintenance including weeding, pruning, fertilizing, and irrigation checks as necessary

· Assist with construction installations, including soil media placement as needed

· Uphold safety standards while working construction sites, including around heavy equipment and on rooftops

· Drive a company vehicle to and from job sites and office location

Qualifications

Required:

· 5+ years of experience in horticulture, landscaping, or green infrastructure

· 3+ years managing or running a crew in the field

· Strong plant ID and care knowledge

· Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions and at heights

· Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites – most are within 2 hours of Philadelphia with rare projects further afield

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

Preferred:

· Degree/certification in horticulture, botany, environmental science, or related field (or equivalent experience)

· Green roof or urban landscaping experience

· Knowledge of stormwater management practices

· Familiarity with irrigation systems and soil substrates

· Pesticide applicator license

· General construction knowledge

· Familiarity with CAD and/or Bluebeam software

Physical Requirements

· Lift 50+ lbs; frequent bending, kneeling, and standing

· Ability to climb ladders and work safely on rooftops

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

This position requires active credentials that authorize work in the US, and possession of a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
