Landscaping Laborer

Job Responsibilities:

Restore excavation sites by raking, grading, shoveling, leveling ground, and spreading grass seed.
Operate and care for construction equipment and machines.
Help equipment operator and other skilled labor when necessary.
Load or unload construction materials.
Remove, fill, or compact earth, restore and repair all disturbed property.
Follow instructions from supervisors.
Ready to learn from on-the-job training when necessary.
Perform site clean-up.
Travels to and from job sites
Loads and unloads materials on the truck.
Restores and repairs all disturbed property.
Operates and/or works around heavy equipment and machinery such as Backhoe, jackhammer, Jumping Jack, Hole Hog, Roto Hammer, Cut-Off Saw, Portable Water Pump, Saws-All, pedestals, cables, plastic conduit, shovel, rake, sledgehammer, pipe wrench, wire cutters, bolt cutters, cable cutters, drilling shafts, etc.
Always maintain safe working habits/conditions.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

A positive can-do attitude and openness to trying things in new ways.
1 year experience in hardscape landscaping preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience in the telecommunications or underground utilities industry is a plus.
Working knowledge of basic hand tools and mechanical equipment
Ability to travel to wherever the job is needed.
A valid driver’s license must be insurable.
Be able to pass a pre-employment background and drug screen.

Work Environment:

Must be able and willing to conduct strenuous and physically demanding tasks for long hours, work outdoors, and in inclement weather conditions.
Must be able to lift and carry materials of all shapes and sizes, weighing 40 to 90 pounds.
Must be able to maintain visual and audible contact with other crewmen and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement.
Must be able to operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery.
Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl while performing work.
Must be able to work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses, hard hat, and any applicable safety gear.
