Topiarius is a boutique landscape design, build, and maintenance firm serving some of Chicago’s most distinctive residential properties.
We are looking for an Account Manager to guide client relationships and oversee the ongoing care and evolution of their outdoor spaces. This role combines horticulture, client advising, and creative problem-solving to ensure our clients’ properties continue to thrive year after year.

What You’ll Do
Manage client relationships
- Serve as the trusted advisor for a portfolio of residential clients
- Visit properties regularly and advise clients on the care and evolution of their outdoor spaces
- Identify opportunities for fine gardening services, seasonal plantings, enhancements, and landscape improvements
Develop fine gardening, seasonal rotation, and enhancement proposals
- Work with our design team to develop seasonal container rotations and planting updates
- Develop proposals for fine gardening services and enhancements that help clients get the most from their landscapes
- Present ideas and proposals to clients
Grow your portfolio
- Build strong long-term client relationships
- Identify opportunities for additional services or improvements within existing properties
Help clients continue to invest in and enjoy their outdoor spaces
Who Thrives in This Role

Candidates with backgrounds in any of the following tend to succeed in this role:
- Account management or landscape sales
- Nursery or garden center customer service
- Horticulture or fine gardening
3+ years of experience in the landscape or horticulture industry is preferred, but we are open to candidates in adjacent fields (e.g. architecture, interior design, real estate, construction) who bring transferable skills, such as strong client-facing experience or a keen eye for design.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in business, landscape design, or related field.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Technology proficiency (our sales team currently uses Microsoft, Google, Aspire, and HubSpot).
- Strong understanding of how to work effectively within client budgets.
- Ability to forecast revenue and portfolio performance, in collaboration with the sales manager.
- Personal vehicle with insurance and clean driving record.
Fluent in English.
Compensation and Benefits
- Compensation: Choose your base salary, up to $80,000, with commission that supplements your earnings and provides total compensation potential of $120,000+ once your portfolio is established. You can start with a higher base for stability while building your portfolio, then switch to a lower base with higher commission potential to maximize growth as your portfolio expands.
