Job Purpose

The Director of Landside Safety at Dammam Airport Company will lead and manage all functions related to terminal and campus safety, ensuring the organization adheres to regulatory requirements and maintains high standards of occupational safety. This role involves developing and implementing safety policies, conducting risk assessments, providing training, and coordinating with external agencies to maintain a safe work environment.


Position Accountability Description

Strategic Leadership:

  1. Develop and implement landside safety strategies that align with Dammam Airport Company vision, mission, and strategic goals.
  2. Manage the coordination of safety initiatives to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements.
  3. Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of landside safety operations and drive continuous improvement.

Operational Excellence:

  1. Lead the development and maintenance of corporate safety policies and procedures compliant with occupational safety regulations.
  2. Manage safety inspections and risk assessments for corporate facilities and work environments.
  3. Lead the safety training and awareness programs for employees across various departments and functions.
  4. Lead investigations and analyses of accidents, incidents, and near misses to identify root causes and implement preventive measures.
  5. Manage the collaboration with HR on safety-related initiatives, including wellness programs and ergonomic assessments.
  6. Supervise the maintenance of safety records and documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  7. Monitor and update safety protocols in response to changing organizational needs and safety trends.
  8. Coordinate with external agencies and experts for safety audits and certifications.


Stakeholder Management:

  1. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities and industry partners.
  2. Communicate effectively with various departments to ensure the implementation of landside safety practices.
  3. Coordinate safety responsibilities with other assurance departments within the organization (e.g., HR and Facilities Management).

Team Leadership and Development:

  1. Provide guidance and mentorship to the landside safety team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  2. Develop training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of the landside safety team.
  3. Set clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and support team members to meet their objectives.


Financial Management:

  1. Assist in developing and managing the budget for the landside safety department, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
  2. Monitor financial performance, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement measures to achieve financial targets.
  3. Prepare budget reports for review by senior management, providing insights and recommendations for financial planning in landside safety.

Risk and Compliance Management

  1. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and industry standards related to landside safety.
  2. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks associated with landside operations and ensure effective crisis management.
  3. Monitor trends and external factors related to safety that may impact Dammam Airport’s Company safety profile, providing relevant information to safety owners and executive management.
  4. Maintain ongoing vigilance over safety-related matters, consistently reviewing and addressing compliance issues, deviations, and potential risks.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement:

  1. Drive innovation in landside safety practices through the adoption of new technologies and best practices.
  2. Continuously assess and improve processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Encourage a culture of continuous improvement, actively seeking feedback and implementing ideas for enhancement.


Minimum Job Requirements

Education Background: Bachelor’s degree: In Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.

Relevant Experience: Minimum 12 years of total experience in occupational safety, risk management, or a related field, with a significant portion in a management or leadership role.
